How long before I can sleep in a newly plastered bedroom?

The room is safe to use the next day, but it will feel damp and cold for the first few days while the water comes out of the plaster. Most people give it two or three nights with the window open. Painting should wait two to four weeks until the plaster has gone evenly pale.

Can you skim a bedroom ceiling with Artex on it?

Usually yes. The high points are scraped back, the surface is sealed and then skimmed. If the Artex is very heavily patterned or loose, overboarding gives a flatter, more reliable result. Artex from before the mid 1980s may contain asbestos and should be tested before anyone disturbs it.

Do you plaster loft conversion bedrooms in Bristol?
