Wall tiling

Floor tiling

Floor tiling has to cope with weight and movement, so the floor gets checked and levelled first. Timber floors usually need boarding or decoupling before tiles go down. We fit porcelain, ceramic and natural stone. More detail is on the floor tiling page.

Bathroom tiling

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you supply the tiles or do I buy them?

Most customers in Bristol buy their own tiles, which gives you a free hand on the look and the budget. We are happy to tell you how many square metres you need and to flag anything that will be awkward to fit before you order. If you would rather we sourced them, just ask.

Can you tile straight onto plasterboard?

Yes, plasterboard takes tiles well as long as it is fixed firmly and the boards are not flexing. In a shower or wet area it should be tanked first, or swapped for a backer board. What you should not tile onto is fresh skim, because the tile adhesive will pull the skim off the wall.

How long does a bathroom retile take in Bristol?

An average bathroom is usually three to four days of tiling, spread across stripping the old tiles, preparing the walls, tiling, then grouting and sealing once the adhesive has gone off. Bigger rooms, mosaics and natural stone all add time. We give you the timescale with the quote.

Tiling has run alongside the plastering since we started, 15 years ago. Most of our tile contractor work in Bristol comes through bathrooms and kitchens, where the same job needs plastering first and tiling after. Doing both in house means the wall behind the tiles is one we prepared, and there is nobody to wait on between trades.
