Plasterer in Bishopsworth, Bristol

Looking for a plasterer in Bishopsworth? We cover everything from Venetian plastering and marble effect finishes to skimming, replastering and plaster repairs, across Bristol and the surrounding areas.

Our Services

Venetian plastering is a polished finish made from lime and marble dust, applied by hand in thin layers and burnished until it shines. It gives a wall real depth, and no two walls come out the same. It is the finish we are best known for in Bishopsworth. Read more on our Venetian plastering page.

Marble effect plastering gives you the veining and movement of a marble slab on a flat wall, at a fraction of the weight and cost. The veins are worked in by hand while the plaster is still soft, so the pattern flows the way you want it. See the marble effect plastering page for how it is built up.

Concrete effect plastering suits people who like a plain, industrial look without the coldness of real concrete. It is soft grey, lightly mottled and warm to touch, and it works well in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways. Have a look at our concrete effect plastering page for the finishes available.

Gold leaf vein plastering sets fine metallic veins into polished plaster, so the wall catches the light as you move past it. Used sparingly it lifts a room without taking it over. It is a specialist finish and one we enjoy. More detail on the gold leaf vein plastering page.

Skimming and replastering is the bread and butter of any plasterer. A skim coat goes over walls that are still sound, while a full replaster is for walls that are blown, cracked or have been stripped back. Both leave you flat and ready to decorate. See the skimming and replastering page.

Damaged plaster repair covers cracks, blown patches, water damage and holes left after pipework or rewiring. A patch can often be blended in so you would not know where it was. Where the damage is spread out, a full wall is the better answer. More on the damaged plaster repair page.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover the whole of Bristol or just Bishopsworth?

We are based in Bishopsworth and cover the surrounding areas, including Withywood, Hartcliffe, Whitchurch, Highridge, Long Ashton and Headley Park, plus the rest of Bristol. If you are a little further out, call and ask. We will tell you straight away whether it is a job we can take on.

How long does it take to plaster a room in Bristol?

A skim over sound walls in an average bedroom is usually a day. A full replaster back to brick takes two to three days because the backing coat has to go on and set first. Venetian plastering takes longer again, since each layer has to dry before the next one goes on.

Can you plaster over Artex or old wallpaper?

Artex can usually be skimmed over once the high peaks are knocked back and the surface is sealed. Wallpaper is different: it should come off first, because plaster applied over paper will pull away as it dries. We strip the walls back as part of the job rather than skimming over a problem.

About us

Daniel Conn Plastering and Tiling has worked as a plasterer in Bristol for 15 years. The work splits into two halves: specialist Venetian and decorative finishes, and the everyday skimming, replastering and repair work that houses need. Both are done by the same pair of hands, which is why the standard stays the same whether it is a feature wall or a hallway ceiling.
